The latest from Apple involves the AirPods Pro 3, which will translate conversations in real time, focusing on the person’s voice, even in noisy environments, Apple announced during the launch. The translation feature is currently in beta testing. How will it work? Audio translation will convert a person’s speech directly into your preferred language on the headphones. Text translation will display the live transcription of the speech on the screen when using an iPhone horizontally. Initially available in English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish, with Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese to be added by the end of the year. ‘The ANC [Adaptive Audio] on the AirPods reduces the volume of the other person’s speech, making it easier to focus on the translation while staying engaged in the interaction,’ explained the company. The new earbuds include a heart rate sensor that measures light absorption in the bloodstream when worn in the ear. This data, combined with accelerometer, gyroscope, GPS sensors, and a new AI model on the iPhone, helps monitor heart rate during various physical activities. The AirPods Pro 3 feature a custom photoplethysmography sensor that emits invisible, pulsed infrared light 256 times, similar to some smartwatches. The earbuds now offer more ear tip options, including the new XXS size, for a more comfortable fit. With active noise cancellation, they have an extended battery life, lasting 33% longer than the previous generation, providing up to 8 hours of playback.
