Garuda Indonesia received funding of Rp23.67 trillion from PT Danantara Asset Management to strengthen its balance sheet. However, the expansion capabilities of Garuda are still very limited. Darmadi Durianto, a member of the Indonesian DPR Commission VI, believes that the capital injection does not guarantee that the state-owned airline will soar to new heights in the near future. According to him, the funds only serve to stabilize Garuda but are not sufficient for significant growth. Most of the funds, amounting to Rp17.02 trillion, are debt-to-equity conversions, limiting Garuda’s ability to expand.
