Egypt and EU Training Palestinian Police for Gaza Deployment

Egypt and the European Union are expanding training for Palestinian police to be deployed in Gaza according to President Trump’s peace plan. The force, part of the US framework, is still in the planning stages with details like size, composition, and deployment zones pending. With UN backing, Cairo and Brussels are ramping up training efforts. The goal is to establish a new police force to replace Hamas-controlled officers in Gaza. Both Egypt and the EU aim to influence postwar Gaza and see the police force as a key component for future management. Training initiatives are underway in Egypt and Jordan, with plans to involve additional Palestinian officers. The EU also aims to train up to 3,000 police officers for Gaza deployment. The police force’s deployment date is yet to be determined, pending vetting and training processes. The force is seen as a crucial element in reshaping Gaza’s security postwar.
