Egypt announced on Thursday the recovery of 36 ancient artifacts from the United States, part of ongoing attempts to reclaim its rich heritage. Tens of thousands of antiquities have been smuggled out of Egypt over the years, making this repatriation significant. The items were retrieved in three batches, including a mummy mask from the Roman era, manuscripts with Coptic and Syriac texts, and a painted limestone relief from the 18th Dynasty. The pieces, confiscated by US authorities, will undergo restoration before being displayed at the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square.
