By John Irish, Parisa Hafezi and Michelle Nichols PARIS/UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) – Britain, France, and Germany will kick off the process of reintroducing U.N. sanctions on Iran at the U.N. Security Council on Thursday, according to two European diplomats. The E3, as the trio is known, recently held discussions with Iran on Tuesday in an attempt to rekindle diplomatic efforts concerning the nuclear program. The goal was to address the issue before their authority to reimpose sanctions on Tehran, initially lifted under the 2015 nuclear agreement with global powers, expires in mid-October.
