Fire breaks out in Nilton Santos Stadium stands during Botafogo vs Vasco match

The Lower East section of Nilton Santos Stadium experienced a small fire as Botafogo and Vasco made their way onto the field for their Copa do Brasil quarter-final match on Thursday (9/11). According to ‘O Globo’ newspaper, pyrotechnic devices used during the player reception ignited toilet paper and flags.

The fire caused panic among the fans, but the fire was quickly controlled and no one was injured. Security guards at the scene guided the crowd, and it turned out to be just a scare, fortunately.
