The first civil trial related to the Boeing 737 Max crash in Ethiopia, which occurred over six years ago, commenced before a federal court jury in Chicago. The jury will determine the compensation amount that the American aerospace company, Boeing, needs to pay to the family of one of the 157 victims. During the trial in Chicago, where Boeing once had its headquarters, the jury was tasked with setting financial compensation for two women who lost their lives in the tragic incident involving Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302. Just before the jurors entered the courtroom for the opening statements, U.S. District Judge Jorge Luis Alonso was informed that one of the cases had been settled out of court.
