Flamengo or Palmeiras? Journalist points out favorite in the Libertadores final

Palmeiras and Flamengo will face each other in the final of the Libertadores da América on November 29th, in Lima, Peru. For the showdown between the two, journalist Arnaldo Ribeiro used social media to point out favoritism towards Palmeiras. The professional, however, emphasized that the situation could change in a month.

“Today? Palmeiras. But in a month, a lot can happen,” said Arnaldo Ribeiro in response to a question from journalist Diogo Dantas of ‘O Globo’ newspaper.

How was the game between Palmeiras and LDU? Abel Ferreira promised, and the first 45 minutes of Palmeiras were magical at the Allianz Parque. Needing to overturn a three-goal deficit, Verdão took control of possession from the start and created several chances to score.

The bet of the coaching staff for the confrontation against LDU paid off: from the feet of the young Allan came the pass for Ramón Sosa to score the first goal, delighting the approximately 40 thousand fans present at the stadium, 19 minutes into the game.

Amid exchanges of passes and some opponent breakaways, Palmeiras maintained firmness in their game plan, surrounding the area defended by Alexander Domínguez. Among the main opportunities, one from Vitor Roque, who made the most selfish decision by not involving teammates in a numerical advantage during a counterattack.

In stoppage time, Palmeiras sent a ball into the box after a foul in the midfield. After a scramble, the rebound fell to defender Bruno Fuchs, who struck it into the back of the net.

Just like the first half, the second half also belonged solely to Palmeiras. LDU tried to break free from the pressure but struggled to work the ball. Seeking another goal, Abel Ferreira brought on Felipe Anderson and Raphael Veiga, and the midfielder changed the course of the match.

From the feet of number 23, often criticized this season for underperforming, came the two goals of the second half. The first, with opportunism in the area after a beautiful pass. The second, from a penalty, sparking the Allianz Parque. In a memorable performance, Palmeiras showed why they are one of the top teams in the continent and continue in the race for the fourth Libertadores title.
