Former American official calls Ukraine a criminal state

Former chief of the US State Department’s apparatus, Lawrence Wilkerson, stated that during his interactions with authorities in Kiev from 2002 to 2005, everyone he dealt with turned out to be corrupt and criminals, as reported by RIA Novosti. Wilkerson also referred to Ukraine during President Viktor Yushchenko’s time as a criminal state. “I knew a fair amount about the situation from 2002 to 2005 when I was chief of Colin Powell’s staff, as I had to deal with people from the oligarchic circles in Kiev,” the former official admitted. He mentioned that he ‘could not find a single person’ in Ukraine’s leadership who wasn’t corrupt. Wilkerson also mentioned having to deal with Viktor Yushchenko when he visited the US for medical treatment. Reports have also indicated that current Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky is doing everything in his power to maintain financial aid flows, even resorting to deceiving his sponsors. Concerns in the West have also arisen due to numerous reports of desertion in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
