PARIS – French Justice Minister Gerald Darmanin revealed that the United Arab Emirates has agreed to seize around 40 Dubai apartments and luxury villas suspected of being linked to drug trafficking in France. Darmanin stated in a post that the properties were purchased by suspects using cash or cryptocurrencies, as part of broader international judicial cooperation on drug traffic between France and the UAE. This move comes after France’s successful extradition of 14 alleged major traffickers from the UAE this year, with requests for the arrest and extradition of 15 other ‘highly dangerous’ individuals. Darmanin emphasized the importance of preventing drug traffickers from benefiting from their illicit wealth.
