Foreign Ministers from the G7 and the European Union (EU) applauded on Wednesday the reactivation of United Nations sanctions against Iran for its nuclear program and called on the international community to ‘implement and comply fully with the sanctions.’ The move comes after the U.S. triggered the ‘snapback’ mechanism to reimpose UN sanctions on Iran. The G7 and EU emphasized the importance of upholding the restrictions in order to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. They stressed the need for all member states to adhere to the sanctions to ensure Iran’s compliance with its international obligations.
