Iran and France indicated on Monday that discussions on the release of two French citizens detained by Tehran in exchange for an Iranian national detained by Paris were progressing. Iran is holding Cécile Kohler and her partner Jacques Paris, who were arrested in June last year on charges of espionage. The news of progress in the negotiations for their release comes after a long period of diplomatic tensions between the two countries. The detentions of Kohler and Paris have been at the center of strained relations between Iran and France, with both sides accusing each other of unjustly holding their citizens.
