In recent years, more Indian students are choosing to study abroad, with a significant number coming from Andhra Pradesh. Even more students from Andhra Pradesh are opting for overseas education compared to states like Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. According to various reports, around 50 students from Andhra Pradesh go abroad for studies every year, with a majority of them pursuing higher education in countries like the USA.
Many students dream of studying abroad to enhance their career prospects. A significant number of Andhra Pradesh students are opting for foreign education to pursue lucrative career opportunities. After completing their undergraduate degrees, many students from Andhra Pradesh are heading to countries like the USA for their postgraduate studies. Some are even choosing to further their education in cities like London.
The USA remains a popular destination for Telugu-speaking students seeking higher education. According to the ‘Open Doors’ report, a projected 363,019 students will study in the USA by 2024-25, with a significant number of Telugu students among them. In 2023, when 1.8 lakh visas are granted, 56% are expected to go to Telugu students. Among them, 22% are from Andhra Pradesh. The remaining students are predominantly from Telangana. Additionally, more Telugu-speaking students are choosing to study in Canada, with many also opting for education in the UK.
Indian students are expanding globally, not just in the USA and Canada, but also in countries like Australia. As per government data, by 2024, 68,572 students will study in Australia. Bangladesh will send 29,323 students, while China will send 4,978 students. Several other countries are also seeing an increase in Indian student enrollments. With students from India studying in 215 countries worldwide, the trend of pursuing education abroad continues to grow.
