Hundreds of Indonesian Students Fall Ill After Consuming Free School Meals

Hundreds of Indonesian students have reportedly fallen ill after consuming free school meals, with officials confirming the cases of alleged food poisoning. Since the launch of President Prabowo Subianto’s billion-dollar scheme in January, thousands have suffered from illness, sparking calls for the program to be suspended due to hygiene issues. The latest incident involved over 660 pupils from two schools in central Java showing symptoms of food poisoning, as well as several affected teachers. The district head, Endah Subekti Kuntariningsih, urged school administrators to closely monitor students and seek medical assistance if symptoms arise.
