Several houses were submerged after a strong storm hit Luiz Alves, in Santa Catarina, this Monday (24). The city is on high alert due to the risk of floods and landslides. Santa Catarina’s Civil Defense reported that the municipality accumulated approximately 140 millimeters (mm) of rain in a few hours, causing several flooded areas and requiring attention from residents. As a contingency measure, the City Hall set up a shelter for displaced families at Paulina Regina Weber Köhler School in the Vila do Salto neighborhood. Municipal teams are on site providing support to affected individuals.
