Indonesia is striving to position itself as a ‘neutral conduit’ between the two Koreas, with the recent visit of Foreign Minister Sugiono to Pyongyang. This visit, at the invitation of North Korean counterpart Choe Son-hui, was the first of its kind in 12 years by an Indonesian official. Leading a delegation to participate in diplomatic talks, Sugiono’s presence in Pyongyang signifies Indonesia’s efforts to foster peace and cooperation in the region.
