Indonesia Faces Tragedy as Floods and Landslides Claim Lives in North Sumatra

Floods and landslides triggered by heavy rain in Indonesia’s North Sumatra province have claimed the lives of at least 34 individuals, according to authorities. Rescue operations are facing significant challenges due to what one official described as a ‘complete cutoff’ of roads and communication lines, as reported by Al Jazeera. North Sumatra regional police spokesman Ferry Walintukan informed Detik news that aside from the confirmed fatalities, there are 52 individuals still unaccounted for as of Thursday.
