Indonesia’s Potential to Become a Developed Country Revealed by Minister Tito

Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian unveiled Indonesia’s potential to leap into a developed country. This opinion is based on the global paradigm shift from realism to liberalism and constructivism. The belief is also influenced by Mendagri’s experience in witnessing credible world institutions like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) showing optimism towards Indonesia’s great potential. ‘This is what we call Indonesia’s Golden era where Indonesia can become a developed country, like Germany is now, Japan, the United States, South Korea, and even Singapore,’ said Mendagri during the Alliance of Alumni Associations (AAA) Conference 1.0: Connecting Global Expertise with Indonesian Opportunities at Hall Wisma Danantara Indonesia on Friday (5/12/2025). According to Mendagri, the paradigm shift towards constructivism is driving countries to use non-military instruments to dominate other nations. These instruments include technology, economy, and socio-cultural factors. This aspect, Mendagri emphasizes, presents a significant opportunity for Indonesia to develop faster than other countries in the world. Furthermore, Indonesia is considered to have four main assets to leap into a developed country. These assets include a large workforce, vast territory, abundant natural resources, and a strategically located geography.
