Iran and UN nuclear watchdog agree on cooperation

Iran recently passed a law suspending cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in response to the attacks on its nuclear facilities. The new law stipulated that any inspections must be approved by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. In light of these developments, Iranian officials engaged in negotiations with the IAEA to reach an understanding on how to fulfill Iran’s safeguards obligations. The final round of negotiations successfully concluded with an agreement on implementing these obligations. According to Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, the negotiations were carried out to address the impact of the illegal actions against Iran’s nuclear facilities. The agreement represents a crucial step towards ensuring transparency and cooperation between Iran and the IAEA in the field of nuclear security.
