The Islamic Republic of Iran voiced their worries on Monday that the United States may refuse visas to their national football team players for the 2026 World Cup, to be held in US soil. Iran’s Sports Minister stated, ‘We ask the United States government to guarantee visas for the Iranian football team for the upcoming World Cup. It is crucial for the team to participate in this international event’. The concerns stem from the strained relations between Iran and the US over the years.
