Iran was evaluating on Sunday how to respond to the reimposition of United Nations sanctions over its atomic program, with a lawmaker suggesting that Parliament could consider a possible withdrawal from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The sanctions freeze Iranian assets abroad, suspend arms deals with Tehran, and penalize any development of its ballistic missile program, among other measures. Iranian officials condemned the reinstatement of sanctions, with the Foreign Ministry saying that it would seriously consider all options to respond effectively. Tehran’s frustration with the sanctions is heightened by the US pulling out of the nuclear agreement in 2018.
