The UN sanctions against Iran will be formally reinstated Saturday night after marathon negotiations between Europeans and Tehran failed. The United Kingdom, France, and Germany, a group of countries called the E3, triggered the sanctions mechanism at the end of August. The move comes in response to Iran’s nuclear escalation and its failure to comply with the terms of the 2015 nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
