Decades of US sanctions have limited Iran’s ability to import modern weapons, leading the country to focus on developing its own systems and upgrading older ones. Iranian Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh recently announced that Iran has established weapon production facilities in ‘several countries.’ This revelation comes merely two months after a deadly aerial confrontation with Israel. Nasirzadeh made these remarks during a televised interview, emphasizing Iran’s efforts to expand its military capabilities. The ongoing sanctions imposed since the 1979 Islamic Revolution have hindered Iran’s access to advanced weaponry, prompting the country to invest in domestic arms production.
