Hector Vargas, president of the Lima and Callao Urban Transport Companies Coordinator, reiterated that on Thursday, the sector he represents will go on strike despite the Ministry of Transport announcing that there will be no such measure and services will run as usual. Vargas highlighted that the main reason behind the strike is the high level of citizen insecurity which puts both passengers and drivers at risk. The decision to go on strike was made to draw attention to this pressing issue and demand action from authorities.
