Macron had a conversation with Zelensky

French President Emmanuel Macron revealed that he had a conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky. Macron shared on his social media page that his recent international discussions, particularly in China, helped clarify regarding the solution to the Ukrainian conflict. Macron confirmed that on Monday, he, Zelensky, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will ‘continue coordination’ in London following recent talks between Kiev and the USA. Earlier, the US State Department confirmed two days of negotiations in the USA between US President’s special envoy Steve Whitkoff, Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, and Ukrainian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Andriy Gnatov. They noted that talks would continue on Saturday, with Zelensky subsequently mentioning a ‘lengthy and substantive’ phone call with US and Ukrainian negotiators. Axios later reported that during a phone call with Whitkoff and Kushner, Zelensky discussed territorial issues and security guarantees. The US administration previously mentioned developing a plan for Ukrainian settlement. The Kremlin stated that Russia remains open to negotiations and stays engaged in discussions in Ankara.
