Magnitude 4.4 Earthquake Hits Indonesia

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 hit Indonesia in the early hours of Wednesday, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).
In a statement on X, the NCS reported that the earthquake occurred in Northern Sumatra, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

On November 26, a 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck Northern Sumatra. And in October, a strong earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale hit West Papua, Indonesia, according to the NCS.
The earthquake occurred at 11:57 am (IST) with the epicenter located at latitude 2.26 degrees South and longitude 138.86 degrees East, at a depth of 55 kilometers below the surface.
Indonesia frequently experiences earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis due to its location on the “Ring of Fire.” The Ring of Fire, also known as the Circum-Pacific Belt, is a path along the Pacific Ocean known for its active volcanoes and frequent seismic activity.
