A strong earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale hit the Banda Sea area of Indonesia on Tuesday, as reported by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ). The tremor was felt in a seismically active region, but fortunately, there were no immediate reports of casualties or major damages. The earthquake’s epicenter was located deep under the sea, approximately 229 kilometers northwest of Saumlaki, at a depth of about 171 kilometers below the Earth’s surface. Despite the quake’s intensity, authorities did not issue any tsunami warnings.
