Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended an invitation to Chinese President Xi Jinping for the upcoming BRICS Summit to be hosted by India in 2026, as confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs. The invitation was offered during a meeting between the two leaders in Russia’s Kazan in 2024, which took place on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit. During his participation at this year’s BRICS Summit in Rio De Janeiro, Prime Minister Modi expressed India’s commitment to revitalizing the BRICS agenda, aiming to provide a ‘new form’ to the group in the following year.
