Mohamed Salah arrived for Liverpool training on Tuesday morning, but uncertainties loom over his future at the club. The Egyptian forward was notably absent from the Reds’ squad for the Champions League clash against Inter Milan on Tuesday night, following a heated outburst after the Premier League game at Leeds on Saturday. Instead of traveling with the team, Salah was spotted training at the club’s Kirkby base and shared a photo of himself in the gym.
Liverpool’s head coach, Arne Slot, expressed uncertainty regarding Salah’s future after the incident. Slot stated on Monday that he had ‘no clue’ whether Salah would play for the club again. When asked if Salah had played his last game for Liverpool, Slot replied, ‘I have no clue. I cannot answer that question at this point in time.’ Slot added, ‘I am a firm believer that there is always a possibility to return for a player. I can leave it with that, I think.’
Despite signing a lucrative contract in April, making him the highest-paid player at the club, Salah voiced his frustrations after being benched for several matches. Following the Leeds game, Salah mentioned feeling ‘thrown under the bus’ by Liverpool. He expressed disappointment at being benched for the third consecutive game, citing unfulfilled promises made to him in the summer. Salah emphasized his strained relationship with the manager, stating, ‘I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden we don’t have any relationship.’
Salah’s absence from the team is imminent due to his upcoming participation in the Africa Cup of Nations starting on December 21. However, with tensions rising and uncertainties surrounding his future at Liverpool, Salah’s return to the squad remains uncertain.
