Minister Alexandre de Moraes, from the Supreme Federal Court (STF), mentioned the presence of neighboring properties to Jair Bolsonaro’s house as a potential risk to the compliance with the precautionary measures in the decision that authorized the police to physically monitor the external area of the former president’s house. Moraes pointed out information from the State Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration of the Federal District stating that the residence ‘has adjacent properties on both sides and at the back, which causes the existence of blind spots.’ The penitentiary police stated that ‘specifically regarding the electronic ankle monitor signal, some technical limitations highlighted by the CIME [control center] should be observed, which can cause intentional or unintentional interruption, slowness or delay in the equipment’s operation.’ The excerpt was also highlighted by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), which objected to the monitoring inside Bolsonaro’s house. Prosecutor Paulo Gonet understood that there was no need, at the moment, to apply ‘more severe solutions’ than house arrest, considering that there was no ‘critical situation’ reported at the former president’s house. In his statement, Gonet also mentioned that he did not see the necessity of a continued physical presence of police officers in the uncovered area of the residence. However, he requested that it be determined that the former president keeps the area unobstructed in case police action is required on the premises. In the decision issued on Saturday (30), in addition to authorizing the policing in Bolsonaro’s backyard, Moraes also ordered inspections of all vehicles leaving Bolsonaro’s house. ‘The inspections should be properly documented, indicating the vehicles, drivers, and passengers. The inspection reports should be sent to the court daily,’ the decision states.
