Netanyahu asserts ‘There will be no Palestinian state’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Thursday (11) that he will not accept the idea of a Palestinian state. He made the statement while signing an agreement that allows significant expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank, near Jerusalem. ‘We will fulfill our promise: there will be no Palestinian state; this place belongs to us,’ Netanyahu declared during the event in Maale Adumim, an Israeli settlement east of Jerusalem. In May, the Israeli government had already announced the creation of 22 new colonies in the territory, which drew criticism as the largest expansion of Jewish settler settlements in the West Bank since the Oslo Accords, where Israel committed not to take such action.
