New CNH rule eliminates mandatory driving school classes

The National Traffic Council (Contran) has approved a resolution that changes the process of obtaining the National Driver’s License (CNH). The main change is the end of the requirement for driving school classes, which will no longer be mandatory after the norm is published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU), expected in the coming days. This decision is part of a set of adjustments that, according to the federal government, aim to reduce costs and simplify access to the license. Among the changes are the reduction of the minimum hours for theoretical and practical classes and the elimination of the deadline for completing the first CNH process.
