Pakistan Proposes US-Backed Port Deal to Unlock Mineral Wealth: Report

Advisers to the Pakistani army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, have reportedly approached US officials with an offer to construct and manage a port on the Arabian Sea, according to a plan disclosed to the Financial Times. The proposal aims to allow American investors to oversee the port at Pasni, enabling access to essential minerals while prohibiting its military usage. Additionally, the plan includes financing for a railway connecting the western provinces of Pakistan to regions near Afghanistan and Iran, facilitating trade and commerce.
