Palmeiras’ jewels shine as Brazil and Mexico draw in U-20 World Cup

Brazil opened their U-20 World Cup campaign with a draw against Mexico in Chile. The team managed by Ramón Menezes fought back to take the lead, but conceded a late goal to settle for a 2-2 draw against Mexico in a thrilling match at the National Stadium in Santiago. The draw had a touch of Palmeiras flavor. Mexico took the lead in the 9th minute through Alexéi Domínguez, but Rafael Coutinho leveled the score with a stunning strike in the 21st minute of the second half. Then, in the second half, at the 30th minute, Luighi turned the game around with an unlikely backward shot, but Diego Ochoa’s header equalized at the 40th minute. The Brazilian team will return to action on Wednesday at 8 p.m. to face Group C leaders Morocco, who beat Spain 2-0 in their opening fixture. Before that, Spain and Mexico will clash in the second round opener at 5 p.m.
