Renowned lawyer Sergio Bermudes (OAB/DF 2,192/A) passed away on Monday, at the age of 79, one of the most influential names in the country’s legal profession. A central figure in the legal field, Bermudes dedicated almost half a century to the law and established himself as one of the most respected proceduralists in the country. The jurist had been hospitalized for seven months and died from respiratory sepsis. He had been facing health complications that worsened since being diagnosed with covid-19 in 2020. He graduated in Law from the University of the State of Guanabara (UEG) in 1969 and obtained a doctorate in the History of Roman, Canon, and Lusitanian Process from USP. In ’69, he founded the Sergio Bermudes Advogados office, now one of the largest law firms in Brazil, with offices in RJ, SP, Brasília, and Belo Horizonte, and over 130 lawyers.
