Sabarimala Witnesses Unprecedented Surge of Devotees; Spot Bookings Capped

Devotees continue to flock to Sabarimala amid the ongoing pilgrimage season. Over 12,000 devotees have reached the shrine by midnight on Sunday. The long queue of devotees extends up to Saran-kuthu. Spot bookings for 5,000 pilgrims have been limited following the analysis of weekday footfall. Among them, DIG Revathy Chandrasekhar reached the shrine.

To advertise here, industry insiders state that crowd control is essential, even with contributions from devotees and authorities overseeing queues at Pampa and the shrine. Controlling the throng of devotees in the 18 Steps area has increased speed and orderly queue management. Eliminating long waiting lines at the holy steps eliminates potential issues. Authorities conclude today as the prime day for the largest pilgrimage crowd during the Mandala pilgrimage season.

DIG Revathy Chandrasekhar’s visit to the shrine reflects part of the unprecedented surge in attendance. Police officials’ first batch will be released on Tuesday. Subsequent batches will be monitored closely. DIG will also participate in the proceedings. Subscribe to our newsletter for more updates.
