A confluence of three tropical weather systems, including the rare Cyclonic Storm building up in the Strait of Malacca, has resulted in intense wind and rain impacting Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam over the past week. Cyclone Ditwah moved across Sri Lanka before weakening near India, while Cyclone Senyar brought heavy rain and strong winds to Malaysia after developing over Indonesian waters. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Koto caused flash floods in the Philippines before moving towards Vietnam. November witnessed the formation of two cyclones – Senyar in the Malacca Strait and Ditwah near Sri Lanka and India’s east coast.
