School Service Commission (SSC) decided to exclude 269 ‘ineligible’ candidates from the recruitment process. The decision was announced following a directive from the Supreme Court. Despite being deemed ineligible, candidates with physical disabilities were given the opportunity to participate in the recruitment process, a deviation from SSC’s initial decision.
In Kolkata, SSC declared the exclusion of 269 ‘ineligible’ candidates from the recruitment process. The list of excluded candidates, initially published on August 30, included teachers participating in the ninth, tenth, and eleventh grade recruitment processes. Following the Supreme Court directive, SSC resumed the identification process, which revealed that these 269 candidates had taken part in the written exams and verification process. Some candidates even used their mother’s name instead of their father’s for the application.
Chairman Siddhartha Majumdar stated, ‘On August 30, we initially published the list of ‘ineligible’ candidates. At that time, we made it clear that they would not be able to apply or participate in the recruitment. Many of the ‘ineligible’ candidates were excluded at that time. Afterward, we kept the entire list pending. Only after careful scrutiny did we identify these 269 candidates, who had applied from among the ‘ineligible’.’
Additionally, SSC urged anyone who had information about the presence of ‘ineligible’ candidates on the list to inform the School Service Commission. This communication could also be made through the Advocate General or via email to SSC. A notification was issued by the School Service Commission regarding this matter.
