On a pleasant evening of September 30th, the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government held a National Day reception at the Shanghai Exhibition Center to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Yin-Ning, Deputy Secretary and Mayor Gong Zheng gathered with Chinese and foreign guests to celebrate the anniversary in a joyous atmosphere.
The central hall of the Shanghai Exhibition Center glowed with peace and joy. The walls were adorned with golden ‘National Day’ and ‘1949–2025’ inscriptions against the backdrop of the vibrant red of the national flag. Foreign and Chinese guests exchanged greetings, creating a harmonious and festive atmosphere, expressing their joint wishes for a prosperous and happy China.
At 6 p.m., the reception began with the solemn sound of the People’s Republic of China national anthem. Gong Zheng, representing the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, delivered a speech expressing gratitude and best wishes for the nation’s development and prosperity.
The reception, attended by over a thousand guests including consuls, representatives from multinational corporations, and overseas Chinese, exemplified the strong bonds between Shanghai and the international community. Chen Yin-Ning highlighted the city’s commitment to openness, innovation, and cooperation, welcoming foreign investment and collaboration in various sectors.
As the evening progressed, cultural performances showcasing the diversity and richness of Chinese heritage captivated the audience. The reception served as a platform for cultural exchange and mutual understanding, reflecting Shanghai’s cosmopolitanism and spirit of inclusivity.
