Singapore and China Collaborate on Solar-plus-Storage Project in Indonesia

Singapore-based Equator Renewables Asia (ERA) and China’s CRE International Co. Ltd (CREI) have joined forces to work on a significant renewable energy project in Indonesia. They will be developing a 900 MW solar installation paired with a 1.2 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in the Riau Islands. Out of the total capacity, 400 MW will be exported to Singapore. CREI, a subsidiary of China National Nuclear Corporation, will lead the investment, construction, and operation of the generation side, while ERA will manage the transmission and distribution aspects of the project. The expected completion date for this ambitious endeavor is set for 2029.
