During a hearing at the Senate Security Committee, Tagliaferro denounced fraud in the elaboration of documents that supported an operation. Eduardo Tagliaferro, a former advisor to Alexandre de Moraes, presented records of alleged irregularities committed in the minister’s office at the Supreme Court during a Senate hearing. Tagliaferro presented documents to the Security Committee on Tuesday related to the case of Bolsonaro-supporting businessmen discussing a coup in a WhatsApp group, a case first reported by Metrópoles. The operation carried out by the Federal Police targeted names like Luciano Hang from the Havan chain of stores and Afrânio Barreira Filho from the Coco Bambu restaurant. Despite the operation taking place on August 23, 2022, the technical materials that supported it were allegedly produced by the former advisor between August 26 and 29. Documents were presented by Eduardo Tagliaferro, a former advisor to Alexandre de Moraes. The ex-advisor claims he was approached by Airton Vieira, a judge in Moraes’ office, to produce doctored documents to justify the operation against the businessmen. Tagliaferro stated that he created mind maps and a report after the Federal Police action. The documents were submitted to the committee but have not been made public or sent to authorities. Tagliaferro’s statement at the Senate hearing shed light on the lack of thorough investigation in the operation against the businessmen accused of discussing anti-democratic acts. He emphasized that the decision to act was based solely on an article by Guilherme Amado on Metrópoles, prompting Moraes to authorize the search. The Supreme Court was contacted by CNN for comments on the allegations but no response was provided. The space for clarification remains available. The Senate’s Security Committee welcomed Tagliaferro on Tuesday, during a hearing chaired by Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, happening simultaneously with Jair Bolsonaro’s trial at the Supreme Court. Tagliaferro, formerly the head of the Special Advisory for Combating Disinformation at the TSE, was accused by the PGR of leaking messages exchanged by Moraes’ office staff. In related news, Moraes requested the extradition of the former advisor, who is currently in Italy, accused of leaking confidential information. The Ministry of Justice stated that a request was sent to the Itamaraty on August 20 for formalization with the Italian government where Tagliaferro now resides. Residing in Italy, Tagliaferro participated in the hearing remotely.
