Thailand launches air strikes on border with Cambodia

Tensions persist in Southeast Asia as Thailand and Cambodia continue to clash despite a ceasefire agreement signed in October following US President Donald Trump’s intervention. The territorial disputes between the two countries led to deadly confrontations in July, resulting in the deaths of dozens of soldiers and civilians. Thai Army spokesperson Major General Winthai Suvaree reported that Cambodian troops initiated the firing into Thai territory in several areas, resulting in one Thai soldier dead, four injured, and civilians being evacuated. Cambodia’s Defense Ministry spokesperson, Maly Socheata, claimed that Thai troops attacked first and that Cambodia did not retaliate during the initial attacks on Monday.
