Upon waking up, as a healthcare professional, I already knew: my hand was lost. It was black, necrotic, with no chance of recovery. Shortly after, I realized that I had also lost my toes. The question that came to me was: what am I going to do with my life? How will I work? Still hospitalized, I received videos from friends showing that it was possible to work with one hand. That filled me with hope. Against all odds, I returned to work. I started sharing my routine on Instagram and TikTok as a way to distract and vent. People wanted to know how I handled things. Initially, I improvised with my arm, my armpit, came up with solutions. With the help of an engineer, I got my first resin prosthesis. Simple, but functional. Being able to hold the dental mirror again was liberating. Later, through a fundraising effort organized by friends, I was able to acquire my first bionic prosthesis, worth R$150,000. Eventually, through a court decision and with health insurance coverage, I obtained a second, even more advanced prosthesis valued at R$350,000.
