At least three people died in a fire caused by protesters in a building in the city hall of Makassar, in eastern Indonesia, a local official told AFP on Saturday. Protests erupted across the country on Friday, sparked by a controversial new job creation law that critics say will harm labor rights and environmental protections. The fatal incident in Makassar comes amidst ongoing clashes between demonstrators and security forces. According to reports, the fire was intentionally set by individuals participating in the protest outside the city hall building. The three victims were unable to escape and perished in the flames.
