Trump warns about Maduro: ‘If we have to do it the hard way, that’s fine’

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said on Tuesday (25) that he is open to talking with Venezuelan President, Nicolás Maduro, signaling a possible diplomatic opening amidst the growing military escalation between the two countries. ‘If we can save lives, if we can do things the easiest way, great. And if we have to do it the hard way, that’s fine too,’ declared Trump. He added that their respective teams are already in contact with the aim of organizing a direct conversation between the two leaders. Trump made the comments aboard Air Force One while traveling to his private residence in Florida to spend Thanksgiving. When asked about the goals of the actions against Venezuela, the American president stated: ‘They were, I mean, probably the greatest abusers with the Tren de Aragua and all the others they sent, the traffickers, the drug lords, the people they sent, the prisoners. They opened their chains and prisons and dumped them in the United States. And we are not happy about that.’
