Two Indian youths from Jalandhar and Tarntaran, along with 17 others from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu, are stuck in Ukraine’s war zone. These youths were recruited by immigration companies to work abroad. The viral video circulating shows one of the youths appealing to the Indian government to save him. The Russian military trained these youths for only a month, while their soldiers usually receive a year-long training.
According to reports, out of the 19 Indians, 14 have been shifted to Ukraine, where they face communication challenges. They are unable to make direct calls and are asking to cancel their contracts within 7-8 days. Five of the youths are missing, with no information available. They were all together initially but were later separated and shifted to different shifts without information about their current status.
The Russian military has subjected these Indian youths to harsh training, including limited food and forced haircuts. They are now trying to retrieve their mobile phones and seek help from their families. Despite reaching out to the Indian embassy in Ukraine, they have not received any response. The youths are appealing for immediate rescue and repatriation to India. Only time will tell if they will be able to escape the dangerous circumstances they are currently in.
