The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant has decided not to equip the Hunter SUV with an automatic transmission (AT). An official representative of the plant informed ‘Gazeta.Ru’ in response to a relevant inquiry.
‘UAZ Hunter’ is primarily a proper work tool, mainly focused on specific tasks and prepared for certain operating conditions. The current design and equipment of the model allow for full implementation of these requirements,’ clarified the press service.
In 2014, UAZ management announced the discontinuation of the vehicle, citing it as morally outdated. However, in February 2015, the decision was made to resume production of the updated Hunter, compliant with ‘Euro-5’ environmental standards and safety requirements.
In 2018, at the request of a UAZ distributor in Lebanon, a Moscow-based company developed a version of the UAZ Hunter with an Aisin automatic transmission and a 2.7-liter ZMZ-409 engine equipped with a turbocharger. Lebanese customers approved the outcome and placed an order for a batch of such vehicles.
