The 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly is wrapping up in New York. Approximately 150 heads of state and government have addressed the assembly over the past week, discussing conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, but also reflecting on their own countries’ roles in the global community. Amidst the challenges facing the UN, there are still reasons for optimism. The global community coming together in one forum to address pressing issues demonstrates a commitment to multilateralism and diplomacy, even in turbulent times.
