The US government issued an update on travel guidelines for American citizens to Venezuela on Wednesday (3). The alert recommends that tourists leave the country immediately and avoid travel to the region, citing risks such as illegal detention, torture, terrorism, kidnapping, arbitrary application of local laws, crime, civil unrest, and poor health infrastructure. The United States and Venezuela have experienced escalating tensions in recent months, with US President Donald Trump even suggesting that Venezuelan airspace be considered closed. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has also warned international airlines about the risks of flying over Venezuelan territory due to increased military activity in the region.
