‘We need our fans’

Abel Ferreira admitted in an interview that Palmeiras is going through a difficult moment. With a 2-0 defeat at Allianz Parque, the team suffered its second elimination at the hands of a rival this season and bid farewell to the Copa do Brasil in the round of 16. Questioned about the applause directed at the fans after receiving boos from the crowd at the stadium, Abel stated that he ‘took note’ but never responded ironically to those present at the Alviverde’s home. ‘Yes, we are (Palmeiras) in a difficult moment. We lost a game against a rival that, at least since I’ve been here, has won little or nothing. I took note (of the boos from the fans). And at no time, because I’ve said many times here, did I mock. I simply asked for support. I’ve said many times: it’s with the feet of our fans who support us, even in difficult moments,’ he said.
